Laugh, smile & be happy

February 5, 2014 By Lindy Leave a Comment

When I made the website, my friend who helped me said I would need a blog. My first reaction was nooooo, then I found once I started, I enjoyed writing a blog. I assumed that my posts would all be about textile related subjects, but I think it may veer off into other subjects as time progresses, like today’s post.

dalai-llamaI said in my last post that weaving bright colours makes me happy. Well I have certain things that when I think about them make me laugh time and time again. One such thing is this cartoon from my friend Tony Iatridis from Intoxicating Illustrations. I love this cartoon. Always makes me smile. You can also see more of his graphic art work here.

Another thing that just makes me laugh every time I think of it, happened many years ago. I was standing on the verandah calling my recently departed, dearly loved cat Kevin. Mark, my partner made the observation that we should have a cat called quack, so he could see me standing there on the verandah going quack quack quack. Now I know you are probably not laughing at all and thinking what? but for me, for whatever reason, this has never failed to make me laugh when I think about it.

And recently I heard a song that is so infectious, that whenever I play it, makes me want to get up and dance around the room… and that makes me happy. Funnily enough, I like blues music and I don’t like rap. This song isn’t blues and has rap! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iW1W34A-n4I

There are a lot of other things that make me happy and 2014 so far has made me smile a lot. As the late Lou Reed sings in Magic and Loss;
There’s a bit of magic in everything, and then some loss to even things out.
