I’m often asked where I get my inspiration and ideas for the colourways and designs I create. Quite often an idea just “comes” to me, and over time it develops in my mind, I give it a title and then create it.

Some of you may know that I am involved in an online world. I enjoy it immensely and over the years have met so many different people from all over the world. There are two people I have met online who have become very close friends and in September I decided it was time to meet them in person. So I hopped on a plane to Los Angeles and went on a roadtrip with one of my friends and his Jeep.

Melbourne & Jean Paul Gaultier
Recently, I was in Melbourne for a short break to catch up with family and the timing couldn’t have been better. The Jean Paul Gaultier Exhibition was on at the National Gallery of Victoria, the only place in the Asia/Pacific region to be showcasing this wonderful exhibition.

Designing
People often ask how I design a piece. Every creative person has a different approach to designing. For me, if it is an exhibition piece, the germination of an idea will just come, then the design starts building. It’s not often that I sit down with my sketchbook and just sketch an idea. Quite often for a special one off piece, it is a word that will start the designing process.
The other side to my designing is for customers, and that is when you have to think on your feet and come up with colours and a design right on the spot. You don’t have the luxury of tossing around ideas for days on end. [Read more…] about Designing
