I’m often asked where I get my inspiration and ideas for the colourways and designs I create. Quite often an idea just “comes” to me, and over time it develops in my mind, I give it a title and then create it.
But other times I need to look for something to inspire me or kickstart the kernel of an idea. This can be a colour combination I see, a texture, just something that catches my eye and lodges itself into my brain.
With all this in mind I am embarking on a new weaving adventure. Part of this process is not wait to be inspired, but seek out inspiration. In May my good friend and American roadtripping partner in crime Alan came over for a visit, and I had the pleasure of showing him my New Zealand. A perfect time to start seeking out that inspiration!
We visited places I hadn’t been to a long time…I had forgotten how beautiful and diverse the South island is, the spectacular contrasts in colour and texture.
I will let the photos do the talking.
