What a wonderful time I had on my Sydney trip, catching up with my family, meeting my new great nephew, seeing old friends and making new ones. Not to mention the exhibitions, festivals, beaches, mountains, food and wine!

Cover up Exhibition
A few months ago I was asked to be part of the Cover Up exhibition at the Russell Henderson Gallery at Central Stories in Alexandra. This is being held in association with The Wool Away Exhibition – A History of Sheep and Sheep Stations in Central Otago.
One of the great joys for me of being a working craftsperson, is the challenge and enjoyment of creating pieces for exhibition. These pieces are a labour of love and created for the sheer pleasure of making them.
Laugh, smile & be happy
When I made the website, my friend who helped me said I would need a blog. My first reaction was nooooo, then I found once I started, I enjoyed writing a blog. I assumed that my posts would all be about textile related subjects, but I think it may veer off into other subjects as time progresses, like today’s post.
Possum & Merino Yarn
Its been a very busy few weeks in my world. Firstly, I supply a shop in Queenstown with my weaving and I was asked if I would dye 10kgs of Possum & Merino yarn for them. Usually I only dye yarn for myself and my own weaving, so the amounts are quite small. This was quite a task and I had to dye it in 500 gram lots and all different colourways. From this to this
Usually at least once a fortnight I have a dyeing day. I love dyeing my own colours and with the method I use it isn’t an exact science, which makes each dyebath different and I can never repeat exact colourways. I like dyeing this way as I feel it makes each piece I weave unique. The only exception to this is when I dye solid colours. [Read more…] about From this to this
